A letter was read from Sovereign Grand Commander Dr. Melvin J. Bazemore, 33°, appointing SGIG Dr. Eugene Anderson, Jr., 33° as the Overseer for the Orient of Indiana, marking a transition built on continuity, respect, and commitment. The outgoing Deputy, SGIG Carl L. Drummer 33° (Lieutenant Grand Commander) extended heartfelt congratulations to SGIG Anderson and offered his best wishes for success in this new role. After the closure of the Council of Deliberation, SGIG Anderson shared a message with the Fraters of Indiana acknowledging both the honor of this appointment and the responsibility it carries. SGIG Anderson emphasized that strong Consistories must be built upon strong Lodges , and that the Scottish Rite must serve as a support—not a substitute—for the foundation of Ancient Craft Masonry. As stated then, and affirm now: This Orient will shape leaders, not followers; critical

To give voice to this spirit, SGIG Anderson introduced a call-and-response that will serve as the rallying cry of the Orient: “ Indiana, Wings Up! ” “ Flying High! ” This is not merely a slogan—it is a standard of expectation, excellence, and unity. Strengthening the Bond With the Grand Lodge In alignment with the longstanding commitment to unity between the Scottish Rite and the Ancient Craft, SGIG Anderson formally communicated with MWGM Jackson, respectfully proposing a statewide initiative permitting Scottish Rite leadership teams to visit Ancient Craft Lodges in full regalia to deliver brief educational presentations and answer questions about the Scottish Rite. Our goals are clear: 1. To educate Master Masons on the deeper moral and philosophical lessons of the Rite. 2. To reinforce loyalty to Blue Lodge membership and responsibility. 3. To support the Grand Lodge , not compete with it. 4. To invite worthy and qualified men deeper into Light. MWGM Jackson responded in full agreement, granting his permission and blessing , affirming that this initiative “ embodies the spirit of unity we hold dear ” and aligns with Indiana ’ s jurisdictional motto, “ One Jurisdiction, One Masonic Family. ” MWGM Jackson ’ s endorsement strengthens the fraternal bond that must always exist between the Scottish Rite and the Ancient Craft. The Work Ahead Our path forward will rest on four pillars: Masonic Education, Ritual Excellence, Community Service, and Philanthropic Impact SGIG Anderson pledged presence, accountability, transparency, and a leadership culture based on merit and demonstrated labor . SGIG Anderson stressed that every elevation should be earned through study, service, character, and contribution to the Good of the Order. The Orient of Indiana is positioned to become a model for the Northern Jurisdiction—a beacon of disciplined brotherhood, intellectual rigor, and fraternal unity. We are prepared, we are focused, we are ready for flight. “ Indiana, Wings Up! ” “ Flying High! ”
