The of Deliberation and 54th Ohio Grand Assembly was held in the Valley of Cincinnati from Friday, October 24 through Sunday, October 26, 2025.This year ’ s Council of Deliberation was special because our Sovereign Grand Commander, Dr. Melvin J. Bazemore 33° (6) was in attendance for the second year in a row. Friday evening, S.G.I.G. Carl A. Williams 33° (15), Deputy for the Orient of Ohio, held a dinner for the Sovereign Grand Commander and other visitors to the Council of Deliberation. A general hospitality followed that was open for the Orient to enjoy. 116th Ohio Council
membership); and the appointment of a Grand Auditor for the Ohio Grand Assembly (instituting best practices). After the allocution, a number of awards were presented. The Harold R. Wilson Voter Awareness Award was presented to G.I.G. Joseph Clark Jr. 33° (21). Immediately following, Deputy Williams requested the presence of G.I.G. David C.S. Whitehead 33° (20), president of the Cincinnati NAACP, and presented him with the newly renamed “ Harold R. Wilson/Joseph Clark Jr. Voter Awareness Award. ” G.I.G. Alan Tucker 33 was presented the Outstanding Service Award for 2025
Dove Assembly No. 34, Valley of Cincinnati, left office the same way she came in—with a big smile! Family and members of the Order celebrated her well. Congratulations to the winners of the Ohio Council of Deliberation raffle! The drawing was held at the conclusion of the banquet. Sunday was the close of the business for the Fraters with the dispatch of various reports and the nominations for the Thirty-third and Last Degree of Scottish Rite Freemasonry. To close out the session, SGC Bazemore appointed S.G.I.G. Reginald. B. Stewart 33° (15), as the new Assistant to Deputy.
Deputy Commander Bazemore, MWGM Powell, and a contingent consisting of SGIGs and Grand heads of houses of Ohio visited the Ohio Grand Assembly. SGC Bazemore provided some remarks as well MWGM Powell. Past Loyal Lady Ruler Dorothy Gordon, Miami Williams, Assembly No. 22, Valley of Dayton received the braid for her crown denoting her service. Congratulations to LL Anita
The Annual Session opened on Saturday morning with devotion which led right into the formal opening led by King Solomon Consistory No. 20. Among the received were SGC Bazemore; the 67th Most Worshipful Grand Master GIG Mario D. Powell I; and guests SGIG Eugene “ Gino ” Anderson Jr. 33°, Overseer, Indiana; SGIG Charles E. Ayler 33°, representing SGIG Christopher Buck 33°, Deputy, Michigan; SGIG Gardner Torrence 33°, Director, USC Souvenir Journal Committee and SGIG Carl Drummer, Lieutenant Grand Commander. The highlight of Saturday morning was the Deputy ’ s allocution. Deputy Williams invited the Loyal Ladies of the Ohio Grand Assembly to be in the audience as the allocution spoke favorably upon them. The allocution emphasized the Orient ’ s aggressive approach to voter awareness (community service); successful statewide reunions (increasing
S.G.I.G. Louis C. Crocheron 33 (15) was bestowed the Meritorious Service Award for 2025. In addition to that he received a plaque in recognition of his dedicated and faithful service to the Ohio Council of Deliberation. Illustrious Crocheron was then made Illustrious Assistant to the Deputy Emeritus—the first of his kind. The remaining business of the Council of Deliberation was attended to and handled efficiently. The statewide Commanders of the Rite meeting was conducted by S.G.I.G. Gregory S. Snead 33° (15). All Valleys submitted favorable reports, and all officers were returned to their stations. This year ’ s donation of $500 was made to Fredrick Douglass Elementary School led by Principal.
