CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS

WHAT IS MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES THEORY?

Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences proposes there are eight different types of intelligences consisting of: Linguistic, Logical/Mathematical, Spatial, Bodily Kinaesthetic, Musical/ Rhythmic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, and Naturalist. At The Lakes South Morang College, we celebrate all intelligences. Take a look at what each intelligence might look like.

Verbal Linguistic: The ability to use words effectively, whether orally or in writing.

Musical Rhythmic: The ability to perceive, discriminate, transform and express musical forms. Interpersonal: The ability to notice and make distinctions in the intention, motivations, moods, feelings and thoughts of others. Intrapersonal: The ability to access personal feelings, reflect and act upon them.

Visual Spatial: The ability to perceive the world visually.

Logical Mathematical: The ability to use number effectively and show strong logical reasoning skills. Bodily Kinaesthetic: The ability to use body and mind to display the performance of physical tasks and functions.

Naturalist: The ability to recognise, identify and classify species of the natural world.
