THE KING’ S BUSINESS

was given the assurance that these things were written to them that believe, that they might know that they have eternal life. He wrent on his way rejoicing. It certainly is very blessed to be His little errand boys and to see that indescribable light come into the eyes when Jesus is received by simple faith. There are two faces which come before me tonight, and these two are one. W e might well label them, “ Before and after taking.” It was a very hard, dull, sullen face, rebellious self-will and even deeper sin being written there. A dear Christian mother’s heart was breaking as through the long night the weary vigil was kept up for many years, as upon bended knees she sobbed out her heartache before Him over this erring one. O f course, these TJ)ROSPECTS for a larger and in every way better work among the Jews, are brighter now than they have been at any time during our eight year’s work among them. Important changes have taken place that will, we believe, make for greater efficiency in service. Through His grace, we have been able to re-open the “ Mission Home” which for -lack o f funds,' we were compelled to tem porarily close. It has been our constant prayer for a long time that God would make it possible for us to have a Mission Home in the more thickly settled Jewish section o f the city. Recently God granted this request and today we have such a home right in the heart o f the Jewish dis trict—the veritable Jewish Ghetto o f Los Angeles. Plans are well under way to re establish a work among Jewish children and already several have been enrolled for the classes, A “Mother’s Class,” in which lessons in practical house-keeping will be given in addition to the Bible lessons, has been started. On Sunday afternoons a

mother’s prayers were heard and answered. The heart which resisted so long is at last broken down by a loye which knows neither measure nor end, and the sweet and tender story has done its work. It was grand to hear the clear, ringing testimony in the crowded work room before all the em ployees and to see the life absolutely yielded to Him, and now to know that she is looking forward for the way to be opened for entering the Institute in prepa ration for a life work. Shall we not, then “Labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun, Tell o f all His wondrous love and care,. Then when all o f life is ended, and our work on earth is done, And the roll is called up yonder, we’ll be there.” Bible class for men and women will be held in the Mission Home. It is the intention o f our Bible Women to place in every home in the Jewish dis tricts a Gospel o f Matthew and a wisely chosen tract, and to have a personal con versation with these women about their, souls’ salvation. This work, as well as the visitation work among the men in the stores and shops, goes on from day to day with splendid results. Our readers will remember in a recent number o f T he K ing ’ s B usiness we told a story concerning a Yiddish Gospel of Matthew that was used o f God to the con version o f a mother in Israel, her son and a pious old orthodox Jew, a friend o f the family. At that time we requested prayers for the boy who, though he had accepted Jesus as his Saviour, yet had not the courage to go all the way in the matter o f confession. The following extracts from his letter show how God has answered prayer for us. Though he is not at home in the use o f the English language, yet
