EXPOSIT ION AND PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS
Lessons I to IX can be reviewed in a logical and coherent manner, though Les sons V II and IX are ■not in their proper chronological setting. Lessons X -X III are good in themselves but have no logical or chronological connection with the other lessons o f the year and would best be omitted in the review. Lessons I-IX , extend over five years o f Paul’s life, 58 A. D.-63 A. D. They were five wonderful years. The review should center in Paul, his conduct, character and teachings. In Lesson I, we see Paul’s calmness and fearlessness and good judgment and pru dence in danger. In Lesson II, we see his delicate courtesy and his shrewdness and readiness in seiz ing every opportunity to witness for his Lord. In Lesson III, we see how clear his con science was from any sense o f guilt, and we also see his practical wisdom. In Lesson IV, we see his unhesitating
belief in anything found in the Scriptures, his wise use o f the Scriptures and his alertness to seize every opportunity to lead men to Christ. In Lesson V, we see his absolute fear lessness in 'Storm and tempest) and also his absolute confidence in God’s word under any and all circumstances. In Lesson VI, we see his humility and his readiness to do any kind o f work for Christ and for the welfare o f others. In Lesson V II; we see his well-balanced common sense, breadth o f view and love o f peace among brethren. In Lesson VIII, we see his longing for human companionship and sympathy, his love for his own countrymen and his faith fulness in declaring the whole word o f God. In Lesson IX , we see how he built his practical teachings, for the conduct o f daily life upon the profoundest doctrines about God and His eternal purposes and bound less grace.
