ATHLETICS- GIRLS BASKETBALL (no credit) Prerequisite: The players must meet state Arkansas Activity Association eligibility requirements, which include maintaining a 2.0 grade point average. The girls basketball program provides two teams - Junior Varsity and Varsity. Competition is held in McFadden and Trice Gyms with other schools from around the state. The Pine Bluff program participates in the 6A South Conference. The season begins the middle of November and ends the first week in March. Four teams from each conference will qualify for the State Tournament the second week in March. ATHLETICS- BOYS BASKETBALL (no credit) Prerequisite: Students must meet state Arkansas Activity Association requirements which include maintaining a 2.0 grade point average. Boys basketball is one of six athletic sports offered to male students in high school. Competition is held in McFadden Gym with other high school teams from around the state. The Pine Bluff program participates in the 5A South Conference. There is an opportunity for boys to be a part of three teams - Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Sophomore. The season begins the first week in December and ends the first week in March. Four teams from the conference may qualify for the State Tournament the third week in March. ATHLETICS- GIRLS FASTPITCH SOFTBALL (no credit) Prerequisite: Students must meet all Arkansas Activity Association eligibility requirements, which include maintaining a 2.0 grade point average. Softball (fast pitch), an interscholastic sports activity, is offered during the spring semester. Players may try out for positions on the varsity or junior varsity teams. The softball team participates in the AAAAA Conference. The season begins the first of March and is completed in May after the state tournament.
