In pursuit of a seventh consecutive gold medal at the FIBA Men’s U18 AmeriCup, the United States went 6-0, securing another championship. The tournament began with a 22-point (88-66) win over Argentina. Led by Tommy Lloyd (Arizona), the Americans won game two 150-54 over Belize on June 4. The Americans opened the game on a 23-0 run and never looked back. Daniel Jacobsen and the USA’s defensive prowess were on full display in their 88-57 win over Brazil, which gave them the top spot in Group B. The U.S. team’s quarterfinals against Puerto Rico started slowly, down 17-10 in the first quarter.
