Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (BNBMC), a clinical affiliate of Rutgers, is a 1,070-bed hospital located at 230 East Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus, NJ. The Medical Center is both the largest hospital and licensed nursing home in NJ and the fourth largest, publicly owned hospital in the nation.

This season, we celebrate an important milestone: the expansion of our LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Center into a new, dedicated facility in Bergenfield. With a steadfast commitment to providing affirming and culturally competent care, this Center embodies the inclusive and innovative spirit of Bergen New Bridge. Community support, including a recent fundraiser at Club Feathers, reinforces the vital role donors like you play in making such initiatives possible. We are also proud to introduce Teen T.H.R.I.V.E., our latest program addressing substance use disorder among young people, and to continue our work as a VA Community Care Network provider, ensuring veterans and their families receive the care they deserve. We will soon cut the ribbon on our expanded Emergency Department, featuring specialized areas for patients experiencing a mental health crisis and pediatric, geriatric, and acute medical care needs—ensuring everyone receives care in a comforting and welcoming setting. We remain committed to empowering our community with knowledge and resources to improve health and well-being through initiatives like our Medical Staff Monday video series and the Wellness Waves podcast. Community Giving to Benefit Expanded LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Center Bergen New Bridge’s LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Center opened on-site at the Medical Center five years ago. It has expanded its reach with a new facility in Bergenfield, N.J., which we celebrated when staff and community leaders cut the ribbon on February 25. Led by Medical Director Dr. Christopher Awwad, the new Center provides affirmative care in a safe, welcoming, and compassion - ate environment. The clinical and support team are members of the LGBTQ+ community, delivering essential, comprehensive, and culturally competent care. Bergen New Bridge celebrated Black History Month by hosting a panel to honor Black leaders and pioneers while fostering meaningful dialogue on addressing racism, promoting equity, and advancing our workplace and community.

Bergen New Bridge hosted Black Balloon Day on March 6 to remember lives lost to overdose, celebrate those in recovery, and raise awareness for the epidemic. The event included a display of the Black Poster Project and presentations from alumni in recovery and hospital and community leaders.
