phone, worry not; those apps will still work fine. Spotify also has a car play mode, limiting its own usage, so only the most basic functions are shown on the screen. The greatest perk is the ease of use — to set it up, all you need to do is click a button, and it will efficiently cut back the largest distraction within your vehicle. Stop driving if you’re drowsy. If you haven’t gotten enough sleep but feel as if you can power through on the road, think again. Drowsiness can increase your chances of a crash by nearly four times. A study by the AAA Foundation of Traffic Safety found that 328,000 drowsy driving crashes occur every year, which is more than three times the number that police reported. While blindside markers and lane departure warnings can keep you driving safely, they are no replacement for a full night’s sleep. If you find yourself drifting off, feeling groggy, or not being able to remember the last couple of miles, it’s best to pull over and get some rest before continuing on your journey. Even if it’s uncomfortable or makes you late, it’s better than risking your life and those of others alongside you on the road. Schedule accordingly and just drive. While you may be a star multitasker, it’s best to schedule any tasks you may need to do before work or an event to be done with enough cushion time to allow for a trip. Scheduling meals with enough time to travel to work is a great tactic to diminish
These days it’s harder than ever to stay focused while on the road. You can’t ignore your phone as it’s pinging you. You might not have gotten enough sleep the night before, or you’re trying to get a meal in while driving to work. Ultimately, these are all distractions that impair driving and put you and others at risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that “in 2020, 3,142 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers.” This April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and we want to offer some ways to cut down on this dangerous habit.

any distractions. Eating, drinking coffee, sending emails, or even changing the radio will inevitably distract you from driving your vehicle as your attention is divided among many tasks simultaneously. Use that multitasking ability to schedule with enough time just to drive. If anything needs your immediate attention, pull over and give it your full attention. Once you’re sure everything is settled, then, and only then, you should begin your journey anew. Everyone knows that distracted driving is dangerous, but it’s difficult to avoid it when your day is jam-packed and your phone is always pinging. By employing these three tactics, you can eliminate bad habits that put you and other drivers on the road at risk.
through the entire sleep cycle and result in grogginess, impairing brain function for a short time. Lower Stress People get cranky when they’re tired. Less sleep causes aggression, emotional outbursts, and mood changes. Adequate sleep makes you feel a lot better — emotionally and physically. While power naps aren’t the solution to every problem, they can be a lifesaver in high-stress situations. Consider taking a cat nap if you’re under a tight deadline. Doing so can boost productivity and lower stress levels. Live Longer Power naps help more than just the brain. They also benefit the cardiovascular system, as regular naps can lower blood pressure, which means you’re at a lower risk of a
To some, a nap is a vital part of a daily routine. To others, naps are accidents and should be avoided. Power naps — also known as “cat naps” — are short, usually around 15–20 minutes, and many believe such a tiny amount of sleep can’t be helpful. You can’t even get to the REM sleep stage. However, peer-reviewed studies show power naps can have many benefits for their minimal time investment. Here are three ways you benefit from adding a 15-minute sleep session to your daily routine. Think Clearer Napping is excellent for sharpening your cognitive powers. High sleep quality leads to better memory, fast response times, and mental clarity, so a power nap is perfect for fitting a little more into your schedule. But while a cat nap can sharpen your focus, a longer nap might hinder you. Long naps go

stroke or heart attack. People who don’t get enough sleep have more frequent headaches, immunological issues, and an increased appetite. Gaining weight then leads to many other health problems, so those who want to lose weight should also watch their sleep schedule. In short, fit a power nap into your schedule regularly. Cultures around the world take midday naps for a reason. If power naps don’t help you feel better, consider visiting a doctor. Constant exhaustion — especially insomnia — can indicate other health problems lurking.
Put your phone in car mode. Today, many phones have a dedicated “car mode.” This mode silences notifications, not allowing them to be shown on your screen while still allowing calls and texts to be visible after your trip is over. If you’re playing music or using the GPS on your

Before the puck even dropped, though, the festivities kicked off with a pre-game tailgate hosted by Just Call Moe at our downtown office. It was a great opportunity for fans to come together, share their excitement, and build some camaraderie ahead of the game. The tailgate set the stage for a night filled with memorable moments. As a bastion of the community, Attorney Moe DeWitt had the honor of conducting the ceremonial puck drop, officially starting the game. Additionally, in further recognition of his contributions, Moe received a personalized white-out jersey adorned with “JustCallMoe” on the back. It represents the strong partnership between the team and the community. Despite the fervent energy and overwhelming support from the fans, the Solar Bears faced a formidable opponent in the Atlanta Gladiators, resulting in a hard-fought battle that ended in a 6-4 loss for the home team. While victory may have escaped them on this particular
Tourism picked up shortly after that. Bigfoot mania officially hit the U.S. in the 1970s as directors released films like “Sasquatch, the Legend of Bigfoot.” New Bigfoot enthusiasts started to visit Washington in droves, hoping to be the first to find proof of its existence. While locals appreciated the influx of cash from tourism, they didn’t appreciate the influx of guns from Bigfoot hunters.
On Saturday, Jan. 27, the Orlando Solar Bears made history with their first-ever White Out Night at the Kia Center, leaving their mark on the team’s legacy. The highly anticipated event drew a sold-out crowd of 9,000 enthusiastic fans, creating an electric atmosphere that reverberated through the arena. To commemorate the occasion, every attendee received a special edition white Orlando Solar Bears Just Call Moe T-shirt, which turned the stands into a sea of snow- white support for the home team. Fans donning their matching white apparel added a visual spectacle to the game.
Most people don’t consider the legality of Bigfoot hunting, but in Washington state, it’s part of the law. In Skamania County, it’s illegal to kill the mythological ape. Should someone murder the creature, they’d face a stiff penalty. Bigfoot — sometimes called Sasquatch — is an elusive ape-like cryptid said to roam the forests of North America. It allegedly has reddish-brown fur, a gorilla-like body, and its namesake big feet. Some claim Bigfoot is the “missing link” between walking apes and our ancestors, who walked on all fours. Most scientists dispute the claim, saying that any ancestor this old likely would’ve adapted or gone extinct. Bigfoot was first spotted in California in 1958, and most sightings since occur in Washington state. Each year, the Evergreen State has 9.12 sightings per 100,000 people — that’s 50% more often than its neighbor Oregon, the runner-up at 6.06. If there were a Bigfoot capital of the world, it’d be in Washington. On April 1, 1969, the Skamania County legislature enacted Ordinance 1969-01, the first law prohibiting the killing of Bigfoot. Anyone convicted of murdering the cryptid would be classified as a felon and imprisoned for five years. While modified decades later, it set an important precedent: Bigfoot is a protected species.
County legislatures enacted a new ordinance in 1984. It further clarified the regulations on Bigfoot and designated the ape as an endangered species. As such, hunting Bigfoot with the intent to kill is illegal. However, the ordinance
night, the resilience displayed by the solar bears left an impression on their supporters.
softened the penalty for hunting Bigfoot, lowering the penalty for poachers to a year in prison or a fine of up to $1,000. Every law has some logic; no matter how frivolous it may seem, there’s a reason why lawmakers went through the trouble. While this law may seem unnecessary, it protects “Bigfoot” and the Skamania County citizens alike.
As the season continues, fans can look forward to more thrilling moments and opportunities to rally behind the Orlando Solar Bears. The regular season concludes on April 6, but there’s still plenty of time for the team to move up in the East Coast Hockey League standings — at the beginning of February, the team was in 6th place in the Eastern Conference. We’re just happy we got to be part of their story.
