On 15-16 November, the South West Home Building and Renovating Show will take place at the Bath and West Showground. FMB will be there to speak with visitors, while members will be at the Advice Centre to assist homeowners seeking guidance for their projects. This event offers a valuable opportunity to showcase the high-quality work of Master Builders and promote the FMB. Members attending the show are encouraged to visit the stand. From 7pm on Saturday after the show, members are invited to join South Director Iain Kirtley and others for an informal catch-up in the Shepton Mallet area. Scan the QR code

In December, the South West and Southern Counties Area Boards will hold a joint meeting at the National Self Build and Renovating Centre in Swindon. Following the meeting, members from both regions are invited to a festive social at a local venue. The event promises a relaxed evening with Master Builders from across the South region, offering an opportunity to meet the faces behind the South West and Southern Counties Area Boards over a well- earned drink. As the year draws to a close, it will be the perfect occasion to reconnect with old contacts, make new ones, and enjoy conversation – whether industry-related or not. South Director Iain Kirtley will also be in attendance to share the latest updates from the FMB and hear feedback from members.

President Jan Etchells said: “Construction SMEs need some form of exemption for their vehicles. If a company is registered and/or licensed with a body like the FMB and can prove active contracts and work sites within London, they should receive an exemption. “This would encourage compliance with emissions standards, support essential retrofit and improvement works, and prevent skilled labour shortages due to cost barriers. “FMB members cannot physically transport plant, tools, and supplies on public transport and need some assistance from TfL.”
