Scotland’s construction summit
Scotland Director Gordon Nelson facilitated the sustainability session at Scotland’s inaugural construction summit in Glasgow. With the built environment responsible for 40 per cent of the UK’s carbon emissions, the construction sector is critical to achieving Scotland’s 2045 net zero targets. Discussions covered the need for clients, contractors, and specifiers to work more effectively on retrofitting existing buildings and adopting sustainable materials such as timber. FMB members shared their perspectives, and there was recognition from attendees that local building contractors will play a key role in delivering on sustainability goals.
