other declares, made up of a veritable “ brood of errors and heresies.” Finally, I came to realize that Seventh-Day Ad ventism is one of the most erroneous, blasphemous, and deceptive of all the false cults within Christendom today. After my many years of delusion, this was indeed a shocking revelation. And this is why I renounced Seventh- Day Adventism. My deliverance was all of grace, all of God. “ Salvation is of the Lord” (Jonah 2 :9). And “salva tion” implies spiritual deliverance, safety, preservation, healing, soundness —all of these are “of the Lord.” Our Redeemer came to earth “ to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound” (Isa. 61:1). This He did for me—sinful, unworthy me—one of His needy “ own sheep.” All praise and glory to our gra cious, sovereign Lord for His unfath omable love, and His mighty power to save! And now, dear reader, you, whoever you are, should shun—avoid—Seventh- Day Adventism for the very same reas ons that I, under God, discovered for renouncing it—because it is an unscript- ural, deceptive, Christ-defaming sys tem. And, too, you should shun it as some pestilent disease, because the ex ponents of the cult in their work of spreading abroad its fatal heresies con stantly resort to the use of sanctimoni ous trickery. A discerning and courageous student of the Word points out that “ It makes no difference what a religious teacher claims to believe and teach; if he uses deceitful methods, he is a false prophet and his organization is of the devil.” And this man of God continues, “ False religions are dangerous because of their connection with, the powers of darkness. You should actually be afraid of them!” This sound advice—this timely warn ing—so forcefully expressed, is in ac cord with the clear counsel of the Word of God to Christian believers. In the sacred Book,we read,— “ Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and of fences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.” . . . “What communion hath light with dark ness? . . . Be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing” . . . “ Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them” (Rom. 16:17; 2 Cor. 6:14, 17; Eph. 5:11, R.S.V.). Seventh-Day Adventism is a cunningly camouflaged religious pitfall—a most subtle and dangerous trap set especially for the enticement and spiritual enslave ment of the uninstructed and unsuspect ing. Surely it should be fearlessly and uncompromisingly exposed, decamou flaged! Certainly it should be shunned as one of the Great Deceiver’s most noxious (though most attractive) count erfeits in these perilous latter days. and bewildered one to Himself. He comes, unfailingly, to lead the straying sheep “ out,” and to make him “ free indeed!” Such a marvelous experience of de liverance was mine. As, by the impelling power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, I came to sense (in a small measure only,
and I should not dare make it but for the written statements of Seventh-Day Adventist leaders, especially the “in spired” writings of their “ prophet.” Note well the following quotations from official writings which the General Con ference of Seventh-Day Adventists has never repudiated: (a) Jesus’ “ brothers [were] older than [He].” ( b ) Jesus “took upon Himself our nature.” . . . “ Christ inherited a sinful nature.” . . . “In His veins was . . . bad blood and inherited meanness.” (c) “ Christ did not make the atone ment when He shed His blood upon the cross.” (d) “ The scapegoat typified Satan, the author of sin, upon whom the sins of the truly penitent will finally be placed [not upon Christ].” (References for the above quotations: (a) Mrs. E. G. White: “ The Desire of Ages,” p. 87; (b) Ibid., p. 24; “Bible Readings for the Home Circle,” p. 115, old trade edition; L. A. Can you subscribe to the above? Or is yours the Christ of the Bible? “ What think ye of Christ?” Why I Renounced Seventh- Day Adventism In His wonderful “ Good Shepherd” sermon (John 10:1-30), the Lord Jesus Christ declares that His own sheep know His voice, that He goes before them, and they follow Him. He further ex plains that He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. Many years ago, through the miracle of the new birth, I became one of the Good Shepherd’s “own sheep.” That was before I, in ignorance of what Seventh- Day Adventism really is, identified my self with that false system. But the time at last came when I clearly heard the Good Shepherd’s call. As a result of my new birth experience, I had come to “ know” instinctively His “ voice,” and I joyfully followed Him as He led me “out”— completely out of ■Advent ism’s darkness and its subtle enslaving power. One who by Sovereign grace comes into possession of the “ sheep” nature may, by one means or another, be caused to wander temporarily in false paths; and such an one may for a time even become seriously entangled in the mire of some deep, foul, dangerous pit. But His new, Spirit-imparted nature, and His Spirit-wrought relationship to the Good Shepherd, do not under such circumstances become changed. And, what is more, the all-seeing, always- loving “ Shepherd of the sheep,” being ever aware of every need of each of “ His own sheep,” comes in love and faithfulness (and never a moment too late!) to call His wandering, ensnared Page Eighteen
CHRIST REVEALED I pray that Christ may be revealed Within my life each day In kindly deeds done in His name, And then, — in what I say. His life, not mine I would express In whatsoe’er I do, That others may behold the One I love, and love Him too. I care not that my name should be Inscribed in bronze or stone, But that it shall appear in heav’n As one of Jesus' own. The plaudits of my fellowmen Are not for me to seek; But rather let me fellowship The lowly and the meek. Just number me with all of those Who love the Son of God,— With those who suffer for His sake, And walk the path He trod. E'en though I may be sore beset By sin's tempestuous waves, I want my life to still proclaim To all, that JESUS SAVES! I covet neither wealth nor fame, Nor yet the praise of men, But that I may be faithful 'til My Saviour comes again.

By the Spirit of God I was led to ’ make an exhaustive comparison of the teachings of the system with the truths of the Bible, and as I did so, He made me to see that the “message” (creed) of the Adventist sect is, as an
