ers Come,” “ A Birthday Soup Dinner,” “Now That I Am Better.” The work abounds in quotable poetry and anec dotes. Shut-ins and the sick will prize this volume. 173 pages. Baker Book House, Grand Rapids, Mich. Cloth. Price $ 2 . 00 . ONENESS WITH CHRIST By W. R. Nicholson Many who have searched in vain for this book in the used book stores will rejoice in its reprinting. The author was a bishop in the Reformed Episcopal Church for many years, and these pop ular studies in the Epistle to the Colos- sians were originally edited by Dr. James M. Gray. A keen insight into the deep things of the Word of God marks the exposition of this supremely impor tant portion of the Bible, and an abiding blessing awaits those who study Colos- sians with this bqok at their elbows. 284 pages. Kregel Publications, Grand Rap ids, Mich. Cloth. Price $3.00. WORLD CRISES AND THE PROPHETIC SCRIPTURES By Wilbur M. Smith Only the lack of subject and Scripture indexes will prevent this book from be coming a valuable handbook of proph ecy. The author, well known for his wide familiarity with ancient and modern lit erature, approaches the prophecies con cerning the end of the age, and the period of great tribulation which will follow the rapture of the Church, from the vantage point of modern thought concerning the present world crisis. Hundreds of quotations from contem porary writings throw fresh light upon the fulfillment of God’s prophetic pro gram. This is a valuable contribution to the literature of prophecy. 384 pages. Moody Press, Chicago, 111. Cloth. Price $3.90.

hurts my soul. See Dr. Talbot’s Question Box in the July issue. One does not need to be a caretaker of an orchard, or a pruner of fruit trees to know what is being done with the twigs or branches which have been removed from the tree —they are usually gathered up and burned. The article implies that the men in verse 6 should not have followed the old custom by burning the “cast forth” and worthless branches, but they should have found a nice and clean place (a heaven) for them, for contrary to the common verdict of men with knowledge about pruning trees, these branches should have been kept. When Jesus in verse 6 says, “If a man abide not in me,” someone should have set Jesus straight by saying, “ Disciples of Jesus do always abide.” The article referred to shows how far a Bible student may go in sup port of the erroneous teaching, “ Once saved, always saved,” or that a Chris tian cannot fall away, nor can he be lost. By DONALD G. DAVIS, Ph.D. Head of the Church History Department of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles GOD'S METHOD FOR HOLY LIVING By Donald Grey Barnhouse Carrying the subtitle, “ Practical Les sons in Experimental Holiness,” this book combines the author’s earlier work for young Christians, “ Life by the Son,” and four addresses at Keswick, England, on the power of Bible study, Christ’s love, the blessed hope, and the Spirit. The messages present the first principles of the spiritual life in the author’s pun gent and inimitable style. The young Christian is guided into the assurance of salvation, an appreciation of the moment-by-moment cleansing needed from the Lord, and the walk of faith. 181 pages. Eternity Book Service, Phila delphia, Pa. Cloth. Price $2.00. POCKET BIBLE HANDBOOK By Henry H. Halley This volume is the nineteenth edition of a work which began as a sixteen-page pamphlet in 1924. Sec tions are included, among many others, on Biblical chronology and archaeology, the canon of the testaments, and church history. A brief commentary on the en tire Bible is supplemented by 72 maps and 78 illustrations.
