The Word of God is Our Law, Not the “ Fathers” Jer. 23:28; Isa. 8:20 Nowhere in the Scripture is the word of man to be substituted for the Word of God. Nearly all the teachings of the Catholic fathers (except the very early ones) are contrary to the plain teaching of the Word of God. Protestants rebel against that substitution. Romanism teaches that the statements of the church supersede and take precedence over anything written in the Scriptures. Protestants protest against this atti tude and refuse to bow to such a posi tion. The Lord judges us by His Word as we read in John 12:48. He does not judge us by the words of priests, bish ops, cardinals, or popes. Protestants protest on this point. Salvation is by Faith, Not by Works Eph. 2:8-9 The whole teaching of Catholicism is that salvation is by money, by penance, by the Virgin Mary, by the church, and by the traditions. Faith in the church is substituted for faith in Christ Jesus. Faith in the traditions of the church is substituted for faith in the plain state ments of God’s Word. Faith in the Lord Jesus is crowded out and clouded by all the obstructions that are put by the church between the seeking sinner and the Lord. Protestants protest this atti tude, this teaching, and the statutes of Romanism. Protestants refuse the va garies of Romanism and choose the plain statements of God’s Word concerning the Lord Jesus and His saving grace. Protestants protest against Mary as a mediator and Romanism as a saviour. Christ Jesus Saves all by Himself Heb. 1:3 Romanism teaches that Christ alone is not sufficient. It teaches that the blood of the Lord Jesus has little or no value. Christ is given the place of a weak baby in the arms of the great Mary or else is shown as a dead victim on the felons’ cross. Protestants protest against this insult to the Son of God. Protestants protest against relegating Christ to a place of weakness and ele vating Mary to a place of power. Pro testants believe that the Lord Jesus alone blots out sin and gives eternal life. Protestants protest against all false doctrine of the Catholic church.

Leaders Should be Filled With Humility 2 Pet. 2:18 Pride is put first in the list of things that God hates. Military pride and finan cial pride together with political pride form a constant source of irritation, re bellion, and chaos. Those who strut about with pride always fall in the ditch and are defeated. Men need to humble themselves in the sight of God and admit their inability and ineffi ciency. If our rulers would seek God’s wisdom and judgment we would have less wars and fewer troubles. Leaders Should be Worshipers of God Col. 1:18 When our leaders give themselves to liquor, tobacco, profanity, and evil com panions, then we can hardly expect the people to be any different. Leaders are upheld as our examples. Lenin and Stalin in their bitterness and lawless ness are examples to the millions of Russians and their satellites. Liquor and cigarettes took their greatest stride forth in the previous administration. The people become like their masters. None of these evil things make for unity, peace, love, and prosperity. They are breeding forces for every sin known to men. God-fearing leaders who wor ship the Lord and love the Bible are safe leaders to follow. Protest-ants have not entirely disap peared from the United States. Surely the hearts of all God-fearing people re joiced when Protest-ants raised their voice concerning the placing of a car dinal on equality with General Douglas MacArthur. Protest-ants protest against giving place, power, or authority to the most wicked system on earth rivaled only by communism. Protest-ants should protest vigorously against placing the enemies of Christ in positions of author ity in politics or the police department or the army or navy. No Protest-ant should vote for a Romanist to be in power. Christ is the Head, Not the Pope Eph. 1:22 God never planned a system known as Romanism. Protest-ants rejoice as they consider the memory of Martin Luther and other noble, brave men who at the risk of their lives defied and denied the cruel edicts of Rome. Christ is the Re deemer of men to set them free. Rome is a slave driver of men demanding im plicit obedience from the body, soul, and spirit of every believer. Christ loved men and blessed them. The pope au thorizes the destruction of Protestants, both their persons and their property. Protestants protest against this evil authority. Oct. 28, 1951 THE UNIQUENESS OF PROTESTANTISM 2 Tim. 3:14-17; Acts 10:34, 35; John 14:6,7; Eph. 2:4-lQ

Pray for Needy Hebrew Christians It was your kind and generous gifts that enabled us to send food parcels to needy Hebrew Christians. A Hebrew Christian from Austria writes: “ I give you my warmest thanks, also my mother returns much thanks for your goodness. This parcel is indeed a great help for us, since my small income does not allow us to have all day enough to eat. So you may imagine how great our joy and gratitude.” Ten dollars feeds a Hebrew Christian for a month. You can help us with your prayers and gifts to supply the needs of Hebrew Christians.
