to guide ou r lives and make us strong. In F irst Corinthians 10:13 w e find that G od alw ays makes a w a y o f escape from tem ptation fo r Christians. Jacob, a fter he m et God, proved this in his life. Like the sack o f salt, he w as propped from w ith in and able to stand fo r God.

Objects: A small basket and a doll to fit in it (need n ot be over tw o inches in size, and m ay be purchased at a dime s t o r e ); a piece o f rope, a la rge rock and a red cross. Lesson: I brou gh t some very interest in g things w ith me this m ornin g, boys and girls. H ere is a little basket, and a baby to fit in it. W ou ldn ’t you girls love to pla y w ith it? I also brou gh t a piece o f rope and this la rge rock. In m y other pocket I have this red cross. W e w ill put them all out here on the table.

Objects: A b a b y’s building block, an em pty ice cream cone and a rubber ball. Lesson: W e have some interesting things here this m orning. There is a rubber ball fo r some b oy and an ice cream cone fo r a girl, and a block fo r a baby. The only trouble w ith the ice cream cone is th a t it is empty. D id you ever stop to think th a t these fam ilia r objects are like people? N otice this ball. It goes any w a y you w an t it to. I f you blow again st it, it is easily m oved. This ball rem inds us o f people who travel w ith the crowd, no m atter which direction it is goin g. This cone is like some other people. (S et it up, restin g on the large end.) It is all righ t as lon g as it is not upset. It cannot be blown over v e ry easily. W hile it looks quite steady, when once it is upset, it goes around and around in a circle. N ow you can blow it easily. Some people are like this— when once trials upset or bother them , you can no longer depend on them.

I w onder h ow m an y o f you boys and girls have a baby in you r fam ily. Th ey b rin g much jo y to a home and everyone loves them . Am ram and Jochebed w ere an Israelite couple w ho lived in bondage in E gyp t. Th ey had a little b oy named Moses and how th ey loved h im ! Y ou can im agine how heartsick th ey w ere over Ph araoh ’s order th a t all b oy babies should be killed. Jochebed hid h er baby as lon g as she could, b u t finally he g o t so b ig and could cry so loudly th a t she w as a fra id that P h araoh ’s soldiers would h ear him and com e and kill him . She prepared a basket som ewhat like the one I brou gh t w ith me this m ornin g, and hid him in it at the edge o f the river. M iriam , M oses’ sister, w as le ft to stand gu ard over the baby, b u t God w as also watching. H e had a plan fo r Moses. H e caused Ph araoh ’s daughter to find the baby and p rotect him . This rope and la rge rock suggest to me the terrible slavery which the Isra el ites suffered. T h ey w ere often bound and cru elly treated b y the E gyptian s. Th ey w ere fo rce d to ca rry heavy rocks which w ere alm ost hum anly impossible to lift. A lth ou gh Moses w as a prince in the palace, he could n ot stand to see his own people so m istreated. H e became God’s chosen leader to deliver the Jew s from th eir bondage. This red cross rem inds me o f the L ord Jesus Christ who came to earth to de liver each o f us from the terrible bond age o f sin. God had a plan to deliver the Israelites, and b rin g them to a prom ised land. H e protected Moses and ordered his life so th a t he m ight be th eir re deemer. He made an even m ore w onder fu l plan, when He sent the L ord Jesus to be our Redeem er from the aw fu l curse o f sin, and its terrible penalty. T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S

The people whom God has been pleased to use, all down th rou gh the years, have been like this block. Y ou cannot blow it over. N o m atter how you upset it, it is ju s t as steady as b efore. I think Joseph w as this kind o f a man. God had a plan fo r Joseph. H e wanted to use him , but this plan involved m an y testings fo r Joseph. H e w as to be m istreated b y his broth ers; sold into sla very; th row n into p rison ; forgotten in prison fo r tw o years, until G od’s time came fo r him to be released. Th rou gh it all he trusted God and w as a man God could depend upon to do H is w ork. H e w as tru e to God and ga ve H is m essage fa ith fu lly . I t w ould have been much easier to have traveled w ith the crow d, but he took the hard w ay, rem aining true to God. God does n ot use the person who, like this ball, is easily m oved in any direc tion. H e does n ot use the one w ho is easily upset like this cone. Bu t H e does use the person w ho can be trusted under all circum stances. A n y one can be like the ball. M ost people can be like the cone. It takes real strength o f ch aracter to be like the block.
