12. Maintaining your membership

This section on membership compliance gives an overview of MHFA England’s expectations for Instructor Members to maintain their active membership status, and the procedures in place in the event of voluntary interruption, quality related suspension, or membership removal. All members To retain annual active membership status, all members are required to: – Deliver a minimum of at least one course delivery of every full Mental Health First Aid course (online or face-to-face) they are accredited to deliver. Please note that all other MHFA England courses do not fulfil this requirement, however as best practice, we continue to recommend that you deliver a minimum of two MHFA England courses per membership year. – Instructor Members accredited in the Mental Health Skills for Managers course and/or the Supporting Team Mental Health and Performance course, as best practice we recommend that in each membership year they deliver a minimum of at least one course delivery of each course they are accredited to deliver – Complete two development activities, one of which must be from the selection provided by MHFA England. Record the learnings from the activities on the word document template available on the Instructor Member dashboard and save a copy for your records. For further information on selecting and completing development activities for membership renewal purposes, please see the Guidance: Learning development activities document available on the Instructor Member Development Programme section of your dashboard

– Pay annual membership fees – Demonstrate the attributes expected of the role(s) – Adhere to the terms and conditions of the Instructor Member agreement – this includes ensuring you have appropriate liability insurance to cover learners when delivering MHFA England training – Adhere to the guidance and instructions in this handbook – Update their Instructor Member profile information annually to accurately reflect their experiences and skills Associate Instructors In addition to the requirements listed above, Associate Instructors are required to: – Deliver (where offered) a minimum of 12 MHFA England courses per year that have been arranged through the Training and Consultancy Directorate – Continually receive high quality feedback from courses delivered to MHFA England clients Where Associate Instructors do not meet these requirements, it will not be possible to offer course delivery opportunities, and may result in removal from the Associate Instructor role and/or Instructor Member role National Trainers In addition to the requirements listed for all members, National Trainers are required to: – Review and assess the applications for the MHFA England Instructor Training Programme assigned to them by the Training Delivery team – Deliver (where offered) a minimum of one MHFA England Instructor Training Programme per year
