Have students complete the dialogue. Monitor and help when needed. Play Track 53 . Have students listen and check their answers. Volunteer some pairs to read out the dialogues. Big Book 2: Everybody Can Help Open the Big Book 2 to page 25. Invite a student to come up, point to, and read the title. Ask students to look at the picture and predict what they think the story is about. Picture read the story. Ask questions about each picture: Who can you see? Where is he/ she? What’s he/she doing? Why is he/she angry/sad/ surprised? At the end of the story encourage students to say again what they think the story is about. Praise students who participate. My Community Map Step 2 Have students work with their same teammates. Remind them they are going to make a map of their community. Have students draw and color two signs that represent two buildings from the list they made in Step 1. Encourage students to work together. When they finish keep their work in a file. Self-evaluation If students have completed today’s activities successfully, they can check the box. Wrap Up Have students work with a partner. Encourage them to ask and answer questions about the map in Activity 3, using the dialogue in Activity 4 as a guide. Have students ask about the park, the school, the farm and the river.

Warm Up Draw a Tic-Tac- Toe grid on the board. Write the following words in the boxes: park, mountain, supermarket, school, ocean, river, hospital, beach, restaurant. Divide the class into two teams and assign them a symbol (X or O). Tell teams they have to draw on the board the sign of the place they picked. The first team to get three symbols in a row wins.
