Have students write two things they prefer doing from the board. 2 Look at the pictures.Who is saying good-bye. Read out the first dialogue and have students scan the dialogues to see who is saying good-bye. Read the expressions. Have students repeat after you. Remind them all these expressions show respect and good manners. Act the first expression to the class and elicit the answer. Have a couple of students to act the first dialogue out. Encourage them to greet. Have students read the rest of the dialogues. Reward their effort saying phrases as Excellent work, Well done, Keep your work up. 3 Listen and number the pictures in Activity 2. Tell the class that they will hear the dialogues in Activity 2. Play Track 3 the first time so students can go throughout the recording. Then have students listen and point to the corresponding dialogue. Play the track a second time and pause the recording after each line, have students number the pictures in the correct order. Invite pairs of students to come up and act out the dialogues. Check the activity as a class, Praise students each time they participate, saying Excellent!, Right! Well done! Allow students to go back to the recording to check their answers. Teaching Tip When correcting pronunciation and intonation, wait until students have finished their dialogue and then model the correct pronunciation and intonation form students to repeat. When checking spelling, encourage students to spell out the word first. Then, spell out the word correctly while the student corrects it. Finally have students spell out the word correctly. Wrap Up Have students work in pairs. Invite pairs to come up to the front of the class and act out a scene to illustrate an expression from the table in activity 3 without talking. Encourage the class to guess the expression and say what phrase their classmates are acting out. Have the pair that first guesses correctly come up and act out another expression. Reward their effort saying phrases as Excellent work, Well done, Keep your work up.
