Say, It means do not interrupt when somebody else is speaking. Ask students to use a different color for each rule. Invite volunteers to read out each classroom rule. Check pronunciation and give positive feedback. 5 Listen to Rules for a School in New Zealand. Answer the questions. Have the class sit in a circle. Open Big Book 1 , to page 2. Tell students they are going to listen to the story. Play Track 10 and turn the pages as students listen. Play the track again and ask, Are these rules similar or different to the rules in this school? Which rules are different? Encourage students to give ideas about why rules in New Zealand are different. Display pages fom 3-7 in the Big Book and explain that the differences between the activities in New Zealand and in their school make the rules be different too. 6 Work in pairs. Draw more balloons with some rules you would like to have in your school. Brainstorm rules in New Zealand. Have students identify rules they have seen in the unit and make a list on the board. Encourage students to add more rules to the list. Distribute white paper. Form pairs and invite students to add a different classrom rule they would like to have in the school. Remind them the differences among the activities in the schools in New Zealand and in thier school. Walk around the classroom and assist students who have difficulty. Once they have completed their rules, invite each pair to share their work with the class. Provide positive feedback to motivate students when participate. Classroom Rules Poster Step 3 Elicit some rules students follow at school. Have them write all of them, if students are having problems, have them do it in pairs and provide support. Have students draw themselves following one of the classroom rules at school in a piece of paper and then label it. Self-evaluation If students have completed today’s activities successfully, they can check the box. Wrap Up Tell students they are going to listen to the Manners Song again. Play Track 65 . Have students listen and join in with the chorus. Play the song a few more times and encourage students to sing along.

Show the students a map to know where New Zealand is located. Elicit some differences between their classroom and the classroom in New Zealand. Read the object words in the cards and place them on the board. Read out chairs and glue the card on the picture, where corresponds. Encourage students label the rest of the classroom objects using the cards on the board, (chairs, tables, shelves, coat stand, shoe cabinet, drawings, box, paper, pencils, etc). Check the words aloud with the class and have them repeat after you.
