Biodiversity and Ecology It’s not only people that call Trowbridge home but flora and fauna too. With the River Biss running along the western boundary of the site and the Kennet & Avon Canal running along the northern boundary,
apetito takes its ecological responsibilities seriously. We’re working closely with John’s Associates, a local environmental consultant. They have been undertaking surveys on site since 2021 looking at UKHAB/Conditions, bats, badgers, reptiles, invasive non-native plants, trees, landscape and visual character. We will liaise closely with the Council’s ecologist, tree and landscape officers during the planning process to ensure local ecology is suitably protected and will submit the following with our planning application: ▶ Preliminary Ecological Impact Assessment ▶ Bat Survey, Mitigation and Enhancement Report ▶ Reptile Survey Report ▶ Landscape and Visual Appraisal ▶ Landscape and Ecology Masterplan ▶ BNG Report and Metric ▶ Construction Ecological Management Plan ▶ Habitat Management and Mitigation Plan We recognise that supporting nature is vitally important, and our ambition is to try and deliver 20% biodiversity net gain (BNG) on the site. This exceeds the Environment Act 2021 target which asks for 10% BNG and current Wiltshire Council requirements. We’re currently in the process of developing detailed green spaces with a landscape architect and welcome input and ideas from the community.
