The instructor shall:
Explain and illustrate an overview of HV equipment and technologies:
a.
Switchgear types including air and gas insulated
b.
Relays
c. Voltage Detection Systems (VDS) within Switchgear
d.
Voltage and Current Transformers
e.
Power Transformers and Types
f.
Breaker Types
g.
Surge Arrestors
h.
Monitoring and Control Systems including SCADA
Explain gas insulated switchgear (GIS) and the use of SF6 gas or equivalent arc prevention gases:
a. Purpose, features, function and use of arc prevention gases including non-greenhouse insulating gasses
b. Differences in operations of clean air versus SF6 insulation, and other systems such as g3 (G- cubed)
c.
Indicators and operations (levels, pressure, etc..)
d.
Testing (moisture content, etc..)
e.
Protective Features / Devices (Pressure discs, etc..)
The participants shall:
Engage in a discussion on different types of typical HV equipment and technologies, including different types of switchgear, relays, transformers, earth switches.

To achieve the lesson learning objectives, the participants can:
20) Recognise the different types, purpose, function and distinction between Circuit Breakers and Disconnectors (Knowledge, basic level)
