d. stored mechanical and pressure energies within switchgear, or other HV equipment
e.
thermal energy - radiation and inductance
f. hazardous insulating media and related chemical hazards from SF6, non-greenhouse gasses or other insulating gasses and oils
The participants shall:
Engage in group discussion on hazards, risks and controls of working adjacent to or on HV equipment based on the examples from the instructor
ELEMENT 4.2 - BASEMENT HOUSED HV EQUIPMENT
To achieve the lesson learning objectives, the participants can:
31) Discuss the hazards related to switchgear gas and venting, particularly in confined spaces (Knowledge, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Facilitate a discussion to explain and illustrate hazards of basement housed HV equipment:
a. low probability but high impact hazards may be present, such as arc blast hazards from switchgear above confined areas to Ensure:
a.i
safe overpressure venting in event of arcing
a.ii safe positioning of personnel away from venting direction / location
a.iii check of electrical condition of installation and switchgear
The participants shall:
Discuss the hazards related to switchgear gas and venting, particularly in confined spaces
