The aim of this lesson is to familiarise participants with tools and PPE for High Voltage working.

After having successfully completed this lesson, the participants can:

58) Explain methods of controlling and maintaining HV-specific tools and PPE, and its importance for safe HV operations (Knowledge, intermediate level)

ELEMENT 9.1 - TYPICAL HV TOOLS, FUNCTIONS, SAFE USE AND CONTROL

To achieve the lesson learning objectives, the participants can:

59) Discuss safe use and inspection of HV PPE, tools, including hot sticks, insulated tools, and voltage detector (Knowledge, intermediate level)

60) Explain the importance of inspection, certifications, calibration, proving and maintenance of HV tools and PPE (Knowledge, intermediate level)

61) Recognise common mistakes and limitations in the use of PPE, personal clothing, jewellery, as well as HV tools and materials (Knowledge, basic level)

62) Recognise when tools are not fit-for-use for HV work (faulty, damaged, soiled, unmarked, uncalibrated or certification out-of-date) (Knowledge, basic level)
