ELEMENT 10.3 - DOCUMENTATION TO ENSURE SAFE CONTROL OF HV OPERATIONS

To achieve the lesson learning objectives, the participants can:

70) Apply a safe system of work to effectively control work and mitigate risks (Skills, intermediate level)

71) Distinguish the equipment type and functions from HV circuit layouts, diagrams, and schematics (Skills, intermediate level)

72) Distinguish and use safety documents such as permits to work, isolation certificates, and Sanctions for Test (Skills, intermediate level)

73) Explain methods for controlling access to HV restricted areas, such as high voltage substations or switching rooms (Knowledge, intermediate level)

74) Discuss additional hazards, including earthing and operational boundaries (Knowledge, intermediate level)

75) Take responsibility for verification of repair and completion (Ability, intermediate level)

The instructor shall:

Introduce the participants to the SSOW and documentation they will use during practical exercises and familiarise them with each type.

Demonstrate switching document, types and use of:

a.

switching schedules, plans, protocols, instructions

b.

terminology and definitions

c. site switching logbook, personal switching logbook or other records of switching operations

Demonstrate HV safety document types and use of:

a.

Permit to Work PTW

b.

Sanction for Test

c.

Isolation Certificate

Explain and demonstrate the use of limitation of access

Demonstrate associated safety document types and use of:
