ELEMENT 14.4 - SCENARIO BASED PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES - HV TESTING
HV testing scenarios should be developed to include operations proceeding as expected and a range of unexpected issues with equipment and processes, and how to act in those situations.
Note
Ideally the scenarios should where possible be based on case studies, incident reports and other relevant real-world examples from the industry.
HV testing exercises should if possible be integrated with the HV switching scenarios as appropriate, depending on the available equipment used for each exercise.
Thus, time allocated for scenario-based exercises in Lessons 11, 12, 13 and 14 can be combined or divided to provide opportunities to integrate switching, isolation, proving, earthing and testing exercises into coherent scenarios based in real-world work tasks.
The instructor shall:
Demonstrate examples of typical testing activity in practical scenarios while:
a.
illustrating a range of testing types
b.
applying tools, equipment and associated devices
Facilitate participants in applying safe control of the HV system during testing exercises
Present scenarios where the participants must assess, lead, assist and carry out designated duties as necessary to enact safe control of the HV system during tests.
Give constructive feedback to all participants after each scenario
The participants shall:
Practice designated duties in a range of different testing scenarios covering equipment in different conditions and states.
Practice control, communication and correct action in different roles during HV testing scenarios.
