Operations training
High Voltage Standard / V0 - DRAFT 2025-03-21
11) Recognise different HV cable types and how cable properties impact safe, efficient pulling operations (Knowledge, basic level)
ELEMENT 2.1 - UNDERSTANDING WHAT HAPPENS TO A CABLE WHEN IT IS PULLED
To achieve the lesson learning objectives, the participants can:
12) Describe what happens to HV cables when subjected to mechanical pulling stresses (Knowledge, basic level)
The instructor shall:
Explain what happens to a cable when it is pulled using examples of different cable pulling work to illustrate
Show participants what happens to HV cables when subjected to mechanical pulling stresses illustrating:
a.
normal working and mechanical pulling stresses
b.
problems when exceeding the limits of the cable
Quiz the participants on what would indicate excessive mechanical pulling stresses in cables
The participants shall:
Explore what happens to HV cables when subjected to mechanical pulling stresses
Answer questions won signs of excessive mechanical pulling stresses in cables
ELEMENT 2.2 - DIFFERENT HV CABLE TYPES, APPLICATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS
To achieve the lesson learning objectives, the participants can:
13) Recognise different HV cable types, their applications, and specifications such as weight per meter and bend radius (Knowledge, basic level)
