waterproofing features

The participants shall:

Work in pairs to explore the provided samples of different cable types and identify the difference between HV and LV cables based on structure, characteristics and markings.

Select one sample HV cable and present back to the group its construction, pointing out the core layers and waterproofing features.

ELEMENT 2.4 - AWARENESS OF BASIC ELECTRICAL FIELD THEORY

To achieve the lesson learning objectives, the participants can:

16) Recognise the relevance of basic field theory in the handling of HV cable during pulling and inspection of breakout (Knowledge, basic level)

The instructor shall:

Illustrate the relevance of basic electric field theory to cable pulling through an example incident, story from the workplace or a case study

a. explain what an electric field is and illustrate why it is important in HV cable pulling

b. show why the handling and placement of HV cable needs to consider electrical fields

The participants shall:

Ask and answer questions on why basic cable theory is relevant to a HV cable pulling operations.

ELEMENT 2.5 - AWARENESS OF HV CABLE TESTING
