The instructor shall:
Demonstrate HV cable inspection including an explanation of how to evaluate the cable for damage before and during pulling operation.
Illustrate HV cable with and without damage using several samples including:
a.
punctures
b.
scratches
c.
soiling
d.
maximum bending radius exceeded
Illustrate and demonstrate how to evaluate damage or puncture holes in outer core.
Guide the participants through a practical exercise inspecting sample HV cable sections for damage
a. encourage participants to reach independent conclusions before sharing determinations for feedback and reflection
The participants shall:
Practice HV cable inspections on samples of good and bad cable and explain what actions they would take for different examples.
a.
how to evaluate damage during cable inspection
b. distinguish typical types of damage and possible consequences
c.
identifying damage and taking appropriate action
Review each other’s inspection conclusions using checklists, sharing peer feedback and discussing compliance with best practices.

The aim of this lesson is to prepare participants to implement safe working practices during HV cable pulling operations by practicing designated responsibilities, communications, hazard recognition, risk control and teamwork.
