ELEMENT 5.2 - HAZARD AWARENESS AND MITIGATION
To achieve the lesson learning objectives, the participants can:
31) Recognise and mitigate hazards related to the environment of the cable pulling task (Knowledge, basic level)
32) Take responsibility to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and apply ergonomic principles to reduce risks during HV cable pulling (Ability, intermediate level)
33) Explain hazards related to the lifting operation during cable pulling and explain mitigation techniques, including lifting planning and work instructions for cable pulling tasks (Knowledge, intermediate level)
34) Recognise and mitigate the range of hazards related to work during cable pulling operations (Knowledge, basic level)
35) Recognise risks and hazards associated with auxiliary systems such as winches and external generators (Knowledge, basic level)
The instructor shall:
Facilitate the participants to review and discuss the importance of hazard awareness and mitigation of risks considering:

hazards of the work environment:

awkward restricted space
a.ii communication challenges
a.iii slippery or untidy work surface
a.iv lighting issues
a.v access / egress challenges
a.vi other activity taking place in the area
