SHOW UP AND WORK

McCauslin believes the next major opportunity lies in dual-use assets: vehicles that serve communities every day and become surge capacity when circumstances change. “A mobile clinic that serves rural patients on Tuesday can be the medical post at a shelter on Friday,” he says. “A command unit that runs the Fourth of July parade is the same one you want when the tornado sirens go off.”

But resilience extends beyond the first hours of an emergency.

“The storm passes in a day. The behavioral health needs, the missed medications and the disconnected families last for months.” That is where VanDoit’s work becomes less about the vehicle itself and more about what remains possible because it arrived. The company’s tagline is “Transforming vans… transforming lives.” “We didn’t pick it because it sounds good,” McCauslin says. “It’s a reminder of who ends up inside these vehicles.” Ask what he hopes the VanDoit name represents years from now, and McCauslin doesn’t talk about manufacturing numbers or technology.

“That it showed up, and it worked.”

“When a responder or a patient or a whole neighborhood was depending on it, the VanDoit started, the lights came on, and the people inside could do their jobs.”
