JERSEY TACTICAL CORPORATION

Dapkins and Klementowicz were equally clear. They wanted the best product they could build, they wanted it made in America and, above all, they wanted to develop something they believed would not fail the person depending on it. A metallurgy specialist at the University of Alabama later helped them develop the steel formulation that became the basis of their tools. He worked with them without charge, exchanging information by mail and helping the foundry refine the process. When it came time to leave a deposit, there was no established Jersey Tactical behind them yet. At that point, Dapkins and Klementowicz had little more than an idea for equipment they believed could help save lives.

They had a personal check.

Because the foundry’s office manager was reluctant to accept it, the two men signed a personal promissory note guaranteeing the payment. Before Jersey Tactical formally existed, its founders had already put their own names behind it. Seventeen Years of Reinvestment The company took years to become financially sustainable. For roughly 17 years, Dapkins and Klementowicz reinvested in Jersey Tactical without taking salaries from the business.

“We built this from the ground up with our own money,” Dapkins says.

They worked overtime and kept their primary careers going.
