production options. Eventually, the representative opened a bag containing components for other brands in the industry.

Jersey Tactical’s testing has become more sophisticated over the years, although the mentality behind it has not changed much.

The experience reinforced something that had frustrated both men for years: what a company implies about American manufacturing and what actually happens behind the supply chain are not always the same.

Dapkins coined the phrase “caveman testing” for their early approach. Klementowicz still echoes it when describing the standard they held themselves to: “If John or I couldn’t break it, nobody’s breaking it.” Today, engineering and formal data are part of the process. Products are tested under normal human force and then pushed significantly beyond expected use so the company can understand how and where failure occurs. The tools incorporate custom metallurgy, casting, welding, heat treatment and mechanical advantages developed specifically around forcible entry and breaching.

For Jersey Tactical, domestic manufacturing is patriotic, but it is also practical.

The founders want to know where the material came from, understand how something was manufactured, maintain control over quality and know who is accountable when something does not meet their standard. When a first responder eventually reaches for that equipment, those questions should already have been answered. Designed by People Who Have Done the Job

But the intended user is not always a specialist.

Dapkins says one of Jersey Tactical’s strongest capabilities is helping people who are not dedicated breachers perform effectively when a situation leaves no time to wait for one.

“Our forte is how to take somebody that’s not a SWAT operator or breacher and get them to be successful.”
