“If a bed does fall on you, you’re going to die. Or at the very least, become catastrophically injured. However, you are most likely going to die because the falling bed will crush you.”

HAROLD KING | BEDLOCK SAFETY PRODUCTS

It is difficult to make the stakes any clearer than that.

Harold spent much of his career in industrial supply, working with customers in coal mining, gravel, heavy industry and food processing. As workplace safety became more prominent in the years after OSHA came into effect, he watched customers become increasingly conscious of the risks hidden inside routine industrial work.

One incident stayed with him.

A customer had a dump truck in need of repair. When the team went to use the factory prop rod, they found it rusted in half. The temporary solution was a six-by-six piece of wood. “If the bed fails, the wood usually breaks and splinters,” Harold says. That experience led him toward the original product that would eventually become the Bedlock system. Years later, after leaving an earlier business arrangement, he purchased the patent and started Bedlock Safety Products in 2021.

He came back because he believed the product could be and should be, safer.
