Successful completion of the programme leads to registration with the Healthcare Play Specialist Education Trust (HPSET). All students will attend a healthcare placement under the mentorship of a registered Health Play Specialist. Students will be required to undertake 200 hours of hospital placement in Year One and Year Two of the course. This course is delivered one day a week at Nescot and one placement day in a healthcare setting. Throughout the two years, students will study modules that are relevant to the profession, offering them exceptional transferrable skills. Health Play Specialist: Apprenticeship The apprenticeship route is suitable for those with employment in a relevant role within their healthcare setting. BSc Applied Bioscience This qualification is being co-delivered with the apprenticeship route, but this option is for those not already employed in industry. A laboratory scientist applies specialist knowledge and broad scientific understanding to carry out a range of technical and scientific activities in their specialist discipline: Life sciences, biological sciences etc. After completing their BSc degree students will be able to apply for Pharmaceutical, NHS or Research laboratory positions. Healthcare Play Specialism: Foundation Degree Nescot is pleased to work with the University of West London in delivering a Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism. We welcome applications from individuals who hold a (minimum) Level 3 qualification in the field of children and young people and have been qualified and practicing for two years or more. The course supports the development of professional competencies in the field of therapeutic play for children and young people in hospital and community healthcare settings.
