Vendredi soir, les Nationals de Rockland rendaient visite aux Hawks de Hawkesbury, dans une rencontre de quatre points. Les Nats étant pre- miers de la division Yzerman, huit points devant Hawkesbury, ils avaient l’occa- sion d’accroitre leur avance sur leurs rivaux tout en les empêchant de faire des points. Malgré un départ en vitesse, les Nats, qui attaquent toujours à trois joueurs, n’ont pu déborder la défense des Hawks, qui ont ouvert la marque en première période. Ces derniers ont rapidement porté le compte à 2-0 dans les dix premières secondes du deuxième tiers. Mais une avance de deux buts n’est pas une avance du tout, surtout devant une équipe aussi rapide et offensive que les Nationals, qui ont tôt fait de niveler le pointage, lors d’un affrontement assez physique où la rivalité et les tensions étaient visibles.

Les Hawks ont toutefois rapidement repris les dessus 3-2. Ils ont tenu bon jusqu’à la fin, complétant la marque 4-2, dans un filet désert. Notons la solide performance du gardien des Nats, Cole Hudson, qui a bloqué CLARENCE CREEK CASTORS AND ST-ISIDORE AIGLES FIGHTING FOR THIRD PLACE IN STANDINGS 36 des 39 tirs dirigés sur lui. Pourtant, les Nats n’ont pas à rougir de leur performance. «Nous avons bien joué dans l’ensemble, a affirmé calmement le directeur général et entraineur en chef Dan Sauvé. On n’a pas obtenu les retours qu’on espérait et ça aurait pu aller dans l’autre sens. Avec une semaine de congé avant le prochain match, on va simplement continuer à ajuster notre jeu.» Le prochain match des Nationals est le jeudi 6 février, à Kanata, contre les Lasers, mais le samedi 8 février, ce sera aux Nats d’accueillir les Hawks.

Castors with a 7-1 loss to the Vankleek Hill Cougars, at the end of a makeup game January 29, then a 6-2 loss Sunday night in Saint-Isidore to the Aigles. Nicholas Gaumond scored for Clarence Creek against the Cougars while Sam Gaudet and Zach Payer popped in singles for Clarence Creek Sunday night. As of the February 2 weekend, the Cas- tors and the Aigles are tied at 34 points each, with 31 games played for Saint-Isidore compared to 30 games for Clarence Creek. The Castors have four games left on their schedule, including one more makeup game that was postponed from earlier in the sea- son because of bad weather. VankleekHill The Castors are in Gatineau this Friday night and then come home to host the Aigles in a rematch Sunday night. The Vankleek Hill Cougars may have to settle for second place in the regular season of the National Capital Junior Hockey League, and focus their efforts and attention now on their upcoming playoffs schedule.The Cougars still sit in second place in the league standings with 44 points after 30 games played, following their February 2 weekend session. They are the East Division leaders in the National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL) while the South Grenville Rangers hold the top spot in the West Division with 55 points after 30 games played. Both clubs still have at least three games left on their regular season schedule, which wraps up mid-February. Saint-Isidore and Clarence Creek are battling for third place in regular season standings of the National Capital Junior Hockey League. As of the February 2 weekend, the Aigles and Castors are tied at 34 points each, with 31 games played for Saint-Isidore compared to 30 games for Clarence Creek. The Aigles had a good weekend with wins against the Gatineau Hull-Volant and the Clarence Creek Castors. The Aigles clipped Gatineau 5-4 with two goals by Patrick Rangers and singles from Jakob Brunette, Mathieu Grandmont, and Xavier Leclerc. Sunday night at home the Aigles soared over the Castors 6-2 with two goals each from Grandmont and John Paquette and singles by Nicholas Roy and Jérémie Arbour. Saint-Isidore has two games left this week in its regular schedule, with Saturday night at Clarence Creek and Sunday night at home against the Bytown Royals. Clarence Creek Clarence Creek is in a competition with Saint-Isidore for third place, as the regular season nears the end for the National Capi- tal Junior Hockey League. “Since I lost 17 players and had a com- plete rebuild, I think we’ve done great,” said Coach Tim Kosch. The biggest challenge, Kosch noted, is making sure he has a full lineup of players ready to go on the ice during game time. Some of the Castors have had work or other commitments that conflicted sometimes with the weekend game schedule. “But when my whole team is there, we’re good,” Kosch said. “We have a very strong defensive team.” The past week didn’t go well for the
