WHAT’S ON DECK FOR HAVWOODS

At Havwoods, we are genuinely passionate about wood, but that doesn’t make us blind to its shortcomings when exposed to environmental elements. Wood naturally absorbs moisture - which does not make it ideal for decking that lasts. To provide a quality decking solution as good as our flooring, we scoured the world for composite decking products which would satisfy our standards and fulfill your needs. As part of the Havwoods philosophy, we insisted on sourcing strong, stable products from ethical European or North American companies with excellent ecological credentials. After extensive research on the composite product market, we learned that we needed to find products with a solid construction. This provides far greater impact resistance and ensures a smaller surface area which means even less chance of water absorption. We are so happy to offer our new lines of decking products and cladding to help make you indoor and outdoor visions a reality.

SUPPORT THE PLANET WITH YOUR DECKING CHOICE

There is considerable evidence to support the fact that the future of our planet is in crisis due to climate change. And in general it is accepted that CO 2 emissions are the principal cause. Wood is nature’s own carbon sink. But left to nature forests achieve a climax stage where the site is supporting its maximum fertility. Harvesting trees as they mature allows the carbon to be stored throughout the life of the wood product whilst clearing the way for new forest growth. So greater use of wood products stimulates the expansion of the forests and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. But there is considerable difference between the benefits of considered forestry and the devastation caused by illegal logging. And the earth’s atmosphere is not the only casualty of deforestation. 70% of the world’s plants and animals live in forests and are losing their habitats to this destruction. This in turn has an adverse effect on local populations. Trees are also vital to the water cycle. And in halting soil erosion. Aiding local populations to gain by preserving their forests instead of destroying them is the task of international non-profit organi z ations like the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®). The FSC’s mission is to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests, directly or indirectly addressing issues such as illegal logging, deforestation and global warming, and with positive effects on economic development, environmental conservation, poverty alleviation and social and political empowerment. Look for FSC® certified products throughout this brochure. Opting to use more wood products is undeniably good for both the individual and the environment. Just make sure that the products you use are the right products.

FSC® certified (FSC-C009500) composite decking and cladding boards suitable for both external and internal use. TREKKER

Made in Europe in a state-of-the-art, environmentally aware facility that runs off of solar energy and uses stored rainwater for cooling during the manufacturing process. Trekker is made entirely from recycled wood and plastics, making our decking fully recyclable. It is easy to install using fixing clips and it’s even easier to maintain, requiring nothing more than an occasional wash with plain water. It is also UV treated for fade resistance so, although it will mellow slightly once installed, the color will stabilize after just two or three weeks. Scratches may be lightly sanded and the color will rapidly blend into the remaining deck or cladding. Trekker carries a 15-year warranty and must be fitted according to the manufacturers instructions.

Overlooking the picturesque Lake Derwentwater, the 4-star Lodore Falls Hotel is set in 40 acres of tranquil land with a waterfall and lakeshore. Completed in November 2019, the project included demolition of the ground floor leisure club to create a brand new brasserie with open kitchen, bar and external terracing with stunning views of the surrounding water. Havwoods was able to supply a variation of boards from its Pureplank, Henley and Trekker collections for both the flooring and cladding of the hotel, creating a cohesive and unified aesthetic that exudes sophistication.

maintenance, practical and complement the overall calming scheme. When it comes to wood surfaces and the outdoors, the two don’t mix well. Wood’s naturally hydroscopic composition means that the structure can warp when exposed to water and heat. Our composite decking boards look, feel and are installed in the same way as natural wood, but they will not rot, splinter, warp or host algae growth, the latter of which means they are also highly anti-slip, even when wet. The Vulcan design brings the natural appeal of wood to the spa’s terrace with the resilience of a composite surface, finished with a UV coating to protect against colour fade resistance, making it ideal for this sunny outdoor setting.

8 For those guests taking advantage of the hotel’s spa facilities, a timeless yet contemporary space will greet them, featuring natural surfaces, calming textures and the beauty of our Vulcan wood grain decking. The recently renovated project includes a new lounge area and outdoor relaxation terrace to allow guests to take full advantage of the adjacent garden views. When considering an exterior flooring surface, the designer specified a decking material that would be low A destination for rest and relaxation, Armathwaite Hall is a luxurious 4-Star spa retreat boasting beautiful accommodation, set within equally beautiful surroundings. The historical 11th-century manor house is positioned on the shores of the idyllic Bassenthwaite Lake, one of the many impressive scenic landmarks nestled within the Lake District National Park.

Prior to installation, always stack boards on a flat surface and protect them from direct hot sunlight. Since the boards will expand when subjected to heat, during installation please ensure that you adapt the expansion gaps according to the ambient temperature as per the chart shown opposite.

Do not allow any driver to remove goods without documentation from his company instructing him to do so; such documentation may be arranged through Havwoods’ transport department. NB if Havwoods’ permission to remove is not obtained and the goods go missing Havwoods will not accept any responsibility to issue a refund. 8. Please note that, in the case of special or timed deliveries, delivery charges excluded, Havwoods cannot accept responsibility for consequential loss due to late delivery.
