EMINARSATTHESHORE: Over 30 people came down to the shore to hear a variety of speakers and topics for our 12th annual Seminars at the Shore. The event, held on May 19 at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, focused on the theme Hot Topics in Appraising in 2016. S

Inc. •State of the Industry -- Marc Isdaner, Evan Zweben and Jeff Algatt of Colliers Intern’l •Lender Requirements and Guidelines: What Appraisers Should Know -- Charles V. Beyer II MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, Michael Practico, JR., CCIM, and Thomas E. McQuillan Feedback from all those in attendance has been VERY good, and the presenters all enjoyed our event as well. We hope you join us next year! VOLUNTEER OF DISTINCTION: Congratulations to May’s Volunteer of Dis- tinction: Al Crosby, MAI! Albert Crosby, MAI, was recognized as the Appraisal Institute’s May “Volunteer of Distinction” for Region VI. Our region consists of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. “Albert Crosby is an outstanding example of the high standards held by Appraisal Institute professionals,” said Appraisal Institute President Scott Robinson, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS. “We feel fortunate to have volunteers like Albert, who are willing to devote their time and talent to helping their communities and advancing the valuation profession.” Al, a current board member, participated in the Leadership Development Advisory Council for three years, and has mentored two Candidates for Designation. He joined the Appraisal Institute in 2003, and received his MAI designation in 2014. Al has been a senior valuation specialist at Colliers International Valuation and Ad- visory Services in Philadelphia since 2014, and has been in the valuation profession for 13 years. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Elon University in North Carolina. His volunteer activities include serving on the Washington Township Soccer Board, and coaching youth baseball and soccer. Crosby is active in his church, teaching a Sun- day school class for teens and is a member of the Men’s Ministry. He is a past board president of Hometown Opportunities for the Mentally Handicapped. Al and his wife, Bonnie, have three children. Congratulations, Al! Thank you for representing the chapter and your community well. CHANGES TO NJ LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Beginning in this cycle, running 1/1/2016 - 12/31/2017, licensed real estate appraisers will need to complete a 2-hr course on state law & rules. This is similar to the class mandated in PA and Delaware. We will offer this class for the first time at the Sept. 13th dinner meeting at the Adelphia in Deptford .
