7 th Annual AIS Impressions: Small Works Showcase Awards Judge: AIS Master Member Anne Blair Brown

Anne Blair Brown was born in North Kingstown, Rhode Island and was raised in Nashville, Tennessee where she currently lives. He r work centers on in�mate scenes inspired by local surroundings as well as travel in the US and abroad. “My artwork starts in reality and evolves through my imagina�on. As an impressionist, I believe in a pain�ng process that enables me to tap into my crea�vity rather than trying to copy and perfect. My goal is to invite you, the viewer, to connect to the pain�ng such that you personalize the experience and use your own imagina�on to complete the story.”

Anne is a Master Member of the American Impressionist Society, a Signature Member of The Oil Painters of America, and past president of the Plein Air Painters of the Southeast. She is also an ac�ve member of The Chestnut Group , a nonprofit group of ar�sts dedicated to preserving endangered ecosystems, historic locales, and aesthe�cally and environmentally significant places. Anne offers onlin e courses and in-person workshops for painters of all skill levels. Her in- person sessions take place at Bluebird Hill Retreat , a picturesque pain�ng des�na�on and ar �sts’ retreat in beau�ful Santa Fe, TN, about 40 minutes south of Nashville.

Memberships are open to American Impressionist artists who are legal United States residents. Membership Dues are $60 Annually for the period January through December. Renewals/New Memberships paid on or after October 25th will be valid through December 31st the following year.

Founded in 1998, AIS promotes the appreciation of Impressionism through exhibitions, workshops, painting demonstrations, critiques, paint outs, panel discussions, and tours. Four exhibitions are offered each year with two in galleries and two online. Today over 2,100 artists are AIS members!
