5.1.3 Rate of Change and Slope (continued) Example 2 Finding Rates of Change from a Graph To find the rate of change between two points on a graph:
1. Find the change between the two y -values. 2. Find the change between the two x -values. 3. Divide the change in y by the change in x .
Example 3 Finding Slope The slope of a line is a measure of its steepness. The slope of a line can be found by dividing the rise (vertical change) by the run (horizontal change) between any two points on that line.
