Siegwerk Opens Ink Lab At Clemson’s Sonoco Institute Siegwerk celebrated the new Siegwerk Ink Lab at Clemson University’s Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics on September 4. The occasion was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony. Faculty, students and industry lead- ers were present to get the first look at the redesigned lab and also have an opportunity to network with oth- er industry professionals. With approximately 350 students currently enrolled in Clemson’s Graphic Communications program, stu- dents will be able to gain exposure to real-world expe- rience through internships and other programs.

Kellog has reportedly had similar success in the Unit- ed States reducing packaging in its MorningStar Farms veggie foods by moving to resealable bags.As an added benefit, the bags help fight freezer burn, which reduc- es food waste. As the company continues to exclude, reduce and re- design, it is also encouraging more recycling and part- nering on new technologies. For example: • In Australia, Kellogg’s includes the Redcycle logo on its cereal bags.At the Redcycle website, people can easily find the location of their nearest drop-off loca- tion.A similar effort is underway in the United States, where Kellogg’s includes the How2Recycle label on most of its packages. • In the U.K., Pringles launched a partnership with TerraCycle to collect and recycle its cans. And in Ma- laysia,Kellogg’s local waste collector converts rejected Pringles cans into corrugated paper. • In Mexico, Kellogg’s is piloting a project to replace PET packaging with material that can more easily be crushed into pellets and recycled. • Kellogg’s India is piloting a project with waste man- agement company Nepra Environmental Solutions in
