THINK BIG 2025

VISION SNAPSHOTS > Our Policy and Influence

• Dogwood leads the climate social just fight through advocating non extractive economic development, 21st century forestry, protection

• On average, people are able to advocate for why protecting forests and keeping them standing is important to our climate (and we need to protect it from industrial logging)

• Stricter regulation on industrial logging and government no longer subsidizes biomass. • Government leaders sign new legislation with DA leaders and communities in attendance. • Should we take on federal policy? DOGWOOD ALLIANCE // STRATEGIC ARTICULATION MAP

13

VISION SNAPSHOTS > Our Community Impact

THINK BIG 2025

• Immersive community engagement through forest themed venture (for example, community forest education center located in community-owned forest, trained and hired young people to help to restore the forests • Big picture / appropriate level for framing of the community impact section

• Burgeoning, healthy Southern economy based on new models rather than old models of extraction

• Climate emergency has been declared and masses of people go to the streets to demand climate policy change. Leaders that we work with are telling their stories on the mainstage

THINK BIG 2025

VISION SNAPSHOTS > Our Forest Impact

• Victory has been declared on the industrial logging and biomass industry. it collapses, no more subsidies and industry corp executives are stressed out in a board meeting contemplating their response.

• Industry is really upset and forced to pivot because of forest protection, climate justice and community involvement in fighting for protected Southern forests

DOGWOOD ALLIANCE // STRATEGIC ARTICULATION MAP

THINK BIG 2025

VISION SNAPSHOTS > Our Emerging Team

• What constituencies are we going to need to achieve a progressive policy agenda? Youth and landowners highlighted, are there others, are these the most important? There is not alignment on these constituencies as top priorities at the moment -- need to better understand the implications. • Growth: how big do we go as an org vs helping build capacity of front- line partners groups?

• New generation of youth leaders understand the value of and relationship to the forests and leads the revamping of the forestry industry/ Dogwood strengthens its partnerships with HBCU’s

• Dogwood has an expanded team of diverse and visionary leadership • Combination of internal team / external partners • Wider regional presence, dedicated core of educated volunteers (eg ambassador program)

• Dogwood announces a new program that works with the next generation of landowners to protect and conserve their forests

VISION SNAPSHOTS > Our Funding Engine

• DA has as diversified mix of revenue with the large percentage of its income derived from forest Defenders • What is our target mix in terms of diversifying funding?

• DA’s community advised sub- grants program is replicated across the south investing in local communities to actively protect forests • Funding drastically increased to BIPOC - led/centered enviro groups who are our partners

• Advocacy for a Green New Deal for the South leads to a congressional appropriation or an earmark for DA • Funding made available for broader Forest protection in a Green New Deal.
