The PUNCHLINE Annual 2020

Chamwell Centre relationship lasts beyond the build process for Evans Jones

Having played a part in getting the project off the ground – literally – Evans Jones has selected the Chamwell Centre as its charity of the year for 2020. The Cheltenham-based chartered surveyors and planning consultants helped project manage the design and build of the facility in the grounds of The Milestone School in Gloucester. Due to open later in 2020, the Chamwell Centre will offer invaluable facilities for children and adults with disabilities from across Gloucestershire. It will provide fully-accessible therapies, leisure, sport and work experience to all-comers, no matter what their level of need. The Chamwell Centre’s facilities, which include a state- of-the art hydrotherapy pool, will be primarily for the pupils of The Milestone School in school time and available to the wider community outside school hours. Evans Jones hope to raise in excess of £3,000 for the centre, though a packed year of fundraising in their Cheltenham office and events across the county. Peter Belton, head of project consultancy at Evans Jones, has been working with the Chamwell Centre throughout Evans Jones’ involvement. He said:“It has been a pleasure to work alongside The Chamwell Centre Charity to get this project off the ground and we look forward to seeing it open later this year. “We are thrilled to be able to foster an ongoing relationship with Chamwell, by continuing to support the centre beyond building completion with our fundraising efforts. “Having worked with them from the very early stages, it made sense for us to keep that relationship going by naming them as our charity of the year for 2020. “From day one, we knew how tight funding was for them and, given the vital services they provide, we thought it was a great local cause to get behind. “As a company, we want to support our local

community in whatever way we can and hopefully we can help raise lots of money to help them provide the invaluable service they offer.” Staff at Evans Jones’ St George’s Place offices have already been digging deep – with some going the extra mile in terms of sacrifice for the cause. Marketing manager Joanne Bruce, marketing administrator Willow Tonks and office Later in the year, they are running golf days in June and September, a charity cricket match in July and a cycling challenge, as well as a corporate raffle as they bid to raise in excess of £3,000 in total. Dr Marie Owen, Chair of The Chamwell Centre Charity, said: “The Chamwell Centre is proud to have been chosen by Evans Jones as their charity of the year for 2020. “The pupils attending The Milestone School and other members of the community who will benefit from the facilities of the Chamwell Centre will greatly value Evans Jones' involvement. “We are delighted that the building is scheduled to open to the school and the public later this year. But our fundraising task does not end here. “We now need to pay for the upkeep of the building, for specialist equipment and for the professionals, therapists and support staff who will run the services in the Chamwell Centre. “The support of Evans Jones in raising funds and supporting the work of the Chamwell Centre will be greatly valued. Our very great thanks to all at Evans Jones” l manager Wendy Ryder all gave up chocolate for January and raised £300 in the process.
