Newent chicken factory is part of a billion-pound company

There is nothing paltry about the returns recorded by the companies that own a poultry processing plant tucked away on a Forest of Dean trading estate. In fact, the food factory on Newent Business Park is part of a billion-pound operation, according to

The revenue was largely gained from sales to the UK market of £1.100 billion, with £38 million to Europe and £3.8 million to the rest of the world. The company accounts for around a quarter of the incredible number of chickens processed by the UK food industry per week. Avara is the third-biggest chicken producer in the country, processing around 4.5 million birds every week. The firm also produces smaller amounts of both turkeys and ducks and is the primary supplier of poultry to supermarket giant, Tesco.
