The PUNCHLINE Annual 2020

Former flower market available for more than £1million

A former flower market on a busy Cheltenham shopping street has hit the market – with offers invited for upwards of £1.25 million. The one-time Robert Young site at the top of Bath Road already has planning permission attached to it – which makes it a prime development spot. For the seven-figure asking price, a developer has the rights to build a three-storey building that would be a mixture of retail and residential space. ASH Chartered Surveyors has been appointed to market what it has said is a "prime gateway

development site". The proposed scheme comprises seven two-bed apartments with a one-bed apartment on the upper floors and a retail unit on the ground floor. The ground floor unit has been granted consent for flexible use as a retail premises or restaurant or café with an outdoor seating area on the Bath Road permitted as part of the plans. Harry Pontifex of ASH Chartered Surveyors said: "Development opportunities of this nature rarely come to the market in the Bath Road area, which is reflected in the level of demand we have received to date, both locally and nationally "The proposed scheme will complement the residential and commercial offerings already situated in the area and in turn help regenerate this end of the Bath Road. "Due to the level and variety of interest, our intention is to request offers by way of an informal tender by 12 noon on 31 March 2020" l
