404. Bill’s Pizza, The Sandwich Spot, The Cheesecake Factory 405. Pubs and sports bars
406. Mario’s Italian Restaurant, Goodies café, Maracas, Lulu’s 407. OK you asked, so I am assuming you would also like to know the particular foods we order at those places. Pretty much stuff Bella Roma cannot compete with, nor should they. These are the places we keep going back to. Billy Reed's... although they have eliminated some of their fare since Owner Robbie died and they have raised prices and are becoming too pricey for us for what they are. What we ordered there mostly was their Honey Stung Chicken and their good sized portion of Liver (and Onions), and the Beef Stroganoff that they no longer offer now. Also their huge Caesar Salad w/ Grilled Chicken, that I liked when it was hot in the desert and I did not want a heavy meal. We used to like Don & Sweet Sue's because they were similar to Billy Reeds in offering and about the same in price and closer to ORPS because sometimes we want closer... but their staff has been... inconsistent with service or way too personal... (like talking not so nicely about the other customers while they are still sitting there, or just getting too personal without knowing us a little better, or standing there talking for way too long while we are trying to eat). Lord Fletcher's for Prime Rib and their unusual House Salad w/ Palace Dressing. Tony's Burgers, because they have a crazy variety of Burgers. They also have a few different kinds of taters, and onion rings, and shakes. Dillon's Burgers & Beers in DHS. Taqueria San Miguel in Thousand Palms because it's the best Mexican in the desert in our humble opinion. The one-off Date Palm is also good but not our fav. Fil Am's Filipino Market because there is a Filipino "restaurant" inside and we eat things that most Americans and Canadians won’t even try. Elmer's because they have a German Pancake that my husband loves. Thai Smile because. Thai Food and their weekday lunch special. Bill's Pizza... because it is different... specifically their "Northern Italian" pizza... and because it is easier when we are in Downtown Palm Springs or Palm Desert. Pappa Dan's... we LOVED "Dan's All Season" pizza when it was at ORPS... but we had never been to Papa Dan's before ORPS, and have never been to their Restaurant in Palm Desert after they left ORPS. Yes, we still have to try one of Bella Roma's pizzas, but are still working our way through Bella Roma's menu... lol! Rick's Restaurant & Bakery because: Ropas Viejas. Cardenas Market because they offer a Carnitas Family Meal Deal that is hard to beat and feeds 4-6 people. Monsoon Indian Cuisine off Sunrise because: Eastern Indian. Lappert's Ice Cream. La Michoacana's Ice Cream. Used to go to Murph's Gaslight for their fried Chicken Special but the last time it is was terrible and have not been back since. Small burnt pieces, while others around us had the usual nice big juicy pieces. We did nothing to insult or anger them and even the waitress was embarrassed and apologetic yet refused to discount our check. Have you guessed I am a Yelper yet? lol Fantasy Springs Resort Buffet. Our only real Italian food cheat away from our Bella Roma is Mario's Italian Cafe... so for Italian we always go to Bella Roma now... however, when we crave the excessive comfort of a large baked Mostaccioli that John and I can split for about $14 (NOT the $11 dinner special), with a big Antipasto on the side, and garlic bread... we go to Mario's... and now and then I have that biggest $5 glass of wine in the Desert (although the Zin costs a buck more). And there you have it. Many other restaurants we have tried but not gone back to. 408. PF Chang, Tommy Bahama, Yard House
