OUTDOOR RESORT PALM SPRINGS Membership Survey Comments on Any Aspect of Outdoor Resort Page 11
97. I am very dissatisfied with the grass maintenance of our lot. We have gopher issues, some type of creeping Charlie. Large bare spaces. It is quite ugly. We contacted the maintenance department and grass maintenance came out twice. They could care less and just tell us to get weed killer and fix it ourselves. One time they spread some grass seed on one bare spot and left the rest. 98. We do not need two golf pros at this resort. It’s an overkill for our size. Also you put someone out for beverages in the morning, where it would make much more sense in having someone there in the afternoon. A cold beer is all we are looking for. 99. Golf: We DO need to maintain the Owner-Volunteer golf committee in an oversight of golf operations and maintenance role reporting to Board of Directors through a liaison NOT reporting to or directed by staff. We do not need to spend HOA $ on free golf instruction for a handful of owners. If that is so important to the two Board members pushing it, negotiate rates for offsite "user-pay" instructors to come here (putting and short game only) on a predetermined schedule similar to other "activities" offered on site. A & A: We should get our house in order re core facility condition such as the appearance of pool decks, facility entrances, laundry and importantly, our Satellites as a priority. Only then should we be able to challenge individual RV condition for appearance and upkeep. Operations and Maintenance: A semi-annual benchmarking and peer evaluation of the facility would aid in a "fresh set of eyes" for our Ops & Mntce team to evaluate performance. When conducted against established criteria (e.g. Leadership practices, staff engagement, preventative maintenance programs, process and procedural compliance etc.) it can result in step performance improvement just as was offered us this year. This is a practice of top performing organizations. At minimum, one Board member would participate in hosting the evaluation for maximum learning. Summer Maintenance: Lawn irrigation sprinkler issues result ineffective use of water, wetting/staining of cars, RV's and lot furniture etc. and is left for the owners to call-in and complain. A proactive summer season maintenance 'check & set' could lead to greater customer satisfaction and more efficient use of resources. Satellites should be pro-actively deep-cleaned prior to start of season and maintained throughout the season. Dog Park: It is imperative we do not use premium "common area" for dog relief. This ill-fated concept guarantees owner to owner disrespect and confrontation generated by both the act of witnessing pet relief and for HOA funding assignment. We must pursue utilizing space such as the clearance access to the west of our Resort (road to Date Palm), orchard to the east or underutilized common area on the west wall. Build walls or hedges to protect affected owners (better than we did for those at pickleball and pool deck users) and develop a self-funding cash flow from (user-pay) pet owners at time of mandatory registry of pets entering the grounds. I'm glad to see that Pets is not in the Vision or Mission statements. 100. Stop signs are generally disregarded because there are too many. Try yield signs at most intersection at least 2 of the directions. Corn-hole (bean bag toss) in addition to Boccie. The activity office should have a reservation schedule posted (at the rooms) for the owner lounge and multi-purpose rooms at LP and ES. 101. More frequent dumpster pickup. Major overhaul of all the laundries, and main laundry room is too crowded. Provide an incentive to convert individual lots to desert scape.
