339. #28 I would like to see more about the artificial turf or the DG. Like "Here's how it would look... here are the benefits of it, how long it would last, the pros and cons of artificial turf... the pros and cons of DG, maintenance issues of either." Also, the little grass strip between our lot (501) and 502... 90% of it is our property. I'd like to put stepping stones or a narrow pathway there between our lot and hers (502) so that we would not walk over it all the time (grass or DG). Also, any kind of loose rock is going to be a constant sweeping of the rock back into its bed. DUST. We don't need MORE DUST on windy days. Is this the "firmly compacted hard dirt" we see around the desert landscaping? How hard is it really? See what I mean about understanding the trade- off before we make that choice? Bottom line is that I would like to actually see what both those choices look like and learn about how each wears before saying yay or nay.... better still... what if it was simply another option at first and not mandatory? See how that goes? Maybe keep the common areas grass, but our lots with a choice of grass or not. Part of the aesthetic appeal of ORPS is the grass, but I do understand about water and maintenance issues. We are right next to a big common grassy area and across the street where Denny is, is a big common grassy area and the wind would blow across both those areas and our lot would be filled with dirt every time the wind blows and especially during windstorms. We would never be able to keep our lot clean. We could only eat outside if there was a guarantee of NO wind that day. I'm going in circles here. I'll stop now. #29 While I am technically a senior: 65.5 years old (my husband is 70), most of the people we hang out with are 66-75 and then some... so I do not consider myself in the 56-65 category at all. No I'm not a snob. Change my answer if you need to. #34... Since we are semi-retired (we have tenants), and live in San Diego, we are back and forth during the Season and the cooler months, so I can't really consider that we actually "stay there". Like averaging 2-2.5 weeks’ worth of days a month, doing the back and forth thing from ORPS to San Diego from about early November to just before Memorial Day and sometimes into June if it is still cool enough... which it was in 2019... we almost got into July with the back & forth because the temps were still low. So the equivalent of 3-5 months’ worth of days? Use that one if you have to use one of the choices. VERY IMPORTANT: my husband is a 12- stepper with AA, and is now 14.5 years clean and sober. It would be nice if there was an AA Meeting at least once a week (maybe twice) at ORPS. I'm pretty sure (I did read what I wrote here to him) if we were there full time during the season, he would be willing to lead some of the meetings... BUT since we are back & forth and don't have a set in stone schedule as to when we go back & forth (it is based on need for us as to what is happening in San Diego)...he could lead one when he was at ORPS if there was a need for a "fill in". The thing is... there are many, many social activities that are somewhat centered around drinking (I am not judging and I am trying to state this without sounding judgmental... live and let live) and if one does not drink, we are often more or less gently snubbed/left in the lurch. We get why. Either people think they have to treat us differently (like can't drink in front of us because it would cause him to drink), or they would also rather be around other drinkers... because... let's face it... everyone acts differently when sober as compared to having a few drinks: it's more fun to be with drinkers when one drinks. It would be nice for us to find, within our community, others who are also "Friends of Bill" or who don't center activities around drinking, and that might start up some "lot parties" that were sans alcohol. I'm not complaining, at all. Just an aspect of Life that most people are unaware of unless they have been there or with someone who has been there. We do fine with things as they are at ORPS, yet I think this would be something to consider. And yes, he attends
