SPORT & OUTDOOR ADVENTURE NCFE Level 2 Diploma

Venue: Alton Campus Duration: 1 year

– Psychology for sports performance – Expedition experience – Development of personal fitness through training Teaching and Learning There will be a mix of both theory and practical work. This will take place on-campus and at various locations in the local area. There will also be several day trips to facilities further afield when required. Assessment The course is 100% coursework completed through a mixture of assignments, class activities, practical tasks, discussions, and presentations. In addition, you will sit assessments during and at the end of the year as part of a resit prgramme in either English Language or Mathematics. Progression This balanced programme offers opportunities to progress onto the Level 3 courses in sport, Public Services or Outdoor Adventure - (South Downs Campus). Entry Requirements Five GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English Language or Mathematics at grade 4.

Overview This new course offers exciting content that focuses on key areas within sport, outdoor adventure, and public services. You will have opportunities to participate in various activities like climbing, mountain biking, and water- based activities. Alongside these, you will also participate in several team and individual sports like football, basketball, netball, badminton, and tennis. Your leadership skills will also be developed through the challenge of preparing and leading outdoor activities and an expedition. You will also work on your physical fitness. This will support your understanding of the fitness requirements for entry to the public services, and more broadly in terms of general health and wellbeing benefits. The range of skills gained and developed on the course will then allow you to progress to any of our Level 3 courses. From there, you will have the opportunity to explore employment, university degrees, and Apprenticeships. There will be a focus on you gaining real-life experience by undertaking work placements to understand more about the opportunities this and further study could lead to. A large part of this course focuses on skill progression within a range of activities but will also require a level of commitment from you to advance your own development outside of the normal college time, to make you more employable. Structure On this one-year course you will study the following units: – Anatomy and physiology for exercise – Participating in sport

– Outdoor and adventurous activities – Leading an outdoor activity session
