We offer a superb range of clubs and societies to enable you to make the most out of your time at HSDC, the chance to try something new, develop your interests and hobbies and to make life-long friends in the process. As importantly though, you’ll be learning and developing fantastic skills outside of the classroom which will enhance your CV, whether you’re applying to university or going into employment. From subject-specific clubs and societies to Sports, Performing Arts, TV & Film, Music and Table-top Games, there is literally something for everyone at HSDC. Just pop along at Freshers Fair in September and sign up for any of these exciting opportunities or contact our Be Involved Coordinator at any point throughout the term. Be Collaborative. Be Inspired. Be Involved. STUDENTS’ UNION — ENSURE YOUR VOICE IS HEARD Our Students’ Union (SU) is your chance to help shape how the College is run for the benefit of you and your fellow students. Each year you’ll be given the chance to elect Learner Voice Representatives, Students’ Union Officers and Student Governors to act on your behalf. You may even wish to stand for election yourself.
The SU is responsible for organising various events throughout the year, such as fundraisers and a fresher-style event to welcome new students. The SU is affiliated with the National Union of Students, which means you can gain access to the benefits offered by this much larger student interest organisation, including many discounts. LEARNER VOICE CONFERENCE Once a year we’ll invite your elected Learner Voice Representatives to our Learner Voice Conference. The Conference gives learners the opportunity to meet key staff to discuss various themes across the College, including teaching and learning, student support and facilities, and to propose changes which benefit the HSDC student experience. CLUBS AND SOCIETIES Being part of our college community is just as much about acquiring new knowledge and skills as it is meeting like-minded people and enjoying an inspiring and creative social experience. That’s why we run a variety of clubs and societies to help you engage with people, interests and issues you care about.
