MEDIA CONTENT CREATION & PRODUCTION T Level (=3 A Levels) Venue: Alton Campus Duration: 2 years Overview This two-year course has been developed in collaboration with leading employers, practitioners and providers from across the sector to develop the technical qualification that will underpin the media, broadcast and production skills you will develop. Their input is vital to ensuring the technical qualification reflects the needs of the sector. Your lessons will take place in our high spec Media classrooms with access to the latest industry software. You will spend time in the classroom, learning core principles of the Media industry and essential theory, and in the process develop your professional and technical skills. This will be balanced with practical work in our studio and creative spaces to build your technical skills. You will get the chance to work in two forms of Media including but not exclusive to moving/still image, audio and written word. The industrial placement is a really fantastic part of the course, and unique to T Levels. You will spend the equivalent of 9 weeks over the 2 years actually working alongside industry professionals in the areas you are considering for your future careers. The College has employers who fully support T Levels and have committed to hosting placements. We support you to make contact, introduce yourself, and secure your placement. This course ensures you can rival all students with a unique blend of both academic and industry experience with a work placement giving you the real-world skills you require for future employment. Structure You will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the Media sector, this will support all of your creative practical work and will include:

– The creative Media economy – The individual in the creative industries – Cultural context and vocabulary

– Audience and consumer needs for the Media – Legal and regulatory requirements in the Media – Professional standards and conduct in the workplace – Equality, diversity and inclusion requirements – Research skills to support practical creative work – Project management, methodology and administration – Continued professional development Assessment You will be assessed by an exam, industrial placement, work-based project, and synoptic assessments. Progression On successful completion of this course, you could progress directly into employment, begin further study with media-related degree programmes or move onto a Higher Apprenticeship. The college has partnerships with a large range of employers as well as universities. Entry Requirements You will need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and Mathematics.
